Krishen Sukdev is a graduate of the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Business Science degree. He qualified as an actuary through the Faculty of Actuaries in Edinburgh. He is also a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa and a Fellow of the Financial Planning Institute. Krishen is an approved Retirement Funds Valuator by the Financial Services Board with 22 years’ experience in the Retirement Fund Industry. He has worked in several other African countries including in Kenya, Zambia, Sudan, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana.
He served as the Convener the Actuarial Society of South Africa’s Social Security Committee and previously also served as a director of ASABA (Association of South Africa Black Actuarial Professionals) as well as National President of Junior Chamber South Africa. He is a graduate of the Japanese Leadership Academy in 2002.
Krishen was previously appointed as an Executive Director for the Independent Actuaries and Consultants (IAC) and his role included providing actuarial and investment advisory services and independent actuarial investigations for various Government and Parastatal organisations. He joined the Government Pensions Administration Agency in August 2015 as the Chief Executive Officer. He also serves as a Non-Executive Director of the Land Bank Insurance Company and Land Bank Life Insurance Company and is the Chairman of the Actuarial and Investment Committee.
